My new lights arrived today, got a little tome to take them out and give them a shake down. All I have to say is wow, these are so much more powerful than the speed lights I have been using for years. I plan on using these a lot in the near future for everything from cars, to product, to portraits. This is the beginning of my re-evolution in photography.

What do you get when you take a steel mixing bowl, some extra steel, adhesive felt, and some automotive door trim? Finally got around to making a ring light adapter for a small strobe. The real deal ring flashes run between $400 all the way up to $3,000! Though this isn't as powerful it still creates a very cool effect when doing portrait shots.

Self portrait, you can really see the halos it creates in the eyes.
After the long embargo the driving impressions of the new 2010 Prius are able to be released through all media outlets. As a current generation Prius disliketarian, I find this new model to have much better styling and interior. I really enjoyed talking to the Japanese engineers that spent thousands of hours developing this completey new generation. Very interesting to hear about a car from someone that helped literally make it a fuctional unit.

Got the opportunity to cover this prototype vehicle in Sacramento CA at the Capitol building, where the Governator himself gave a speech on the benefits of how this sports car is green while being fast. The company is expecting to be in production by fall, but I think it will be a little longer judging how early in development this first prototype was.

I got to stay at this amazing hotel that is "undoubtedly the greenest luxury hotel in America" while in Napa for the 2010 Toyota Prius Press Event. Beautiful modern design that incorporates advanced environmental technologies and materials.

With the release of the new uni-body Mac's it was hard to resist, bought myself a 15 inch MacBook Pro. Have to say I really like the os and how every thing seems more simple. Im now also using Lightroom 2 which has increased my RAW work flow speed drastically.
At Thunderhill in Willows, CA. Second time covering this race and it is long, cold, and plenty of time to get many different angles/locations of the cars. Here are a few from the race that specifically focus on a Daytona Prototype. Big thanks to the Cytomax/Muscle Milk team for letting me stay warm in their beautiful pit.

After a long dry spell of no automotive gigs, I got thrown to the wolves with a extremely tight time constraint to shoot an Evo X MR for Autoblog. Equipment errors and complete brain disfunctionality resulted in a shoot that, for the most part, went strait to the trash. Tracked down another Evo X MR at Concord Mitsubishi and they allowed me to photograph the car but without leaving the premisis. Luckily, they had a open corner on their roof lot. Here it is, a back up hard drive. This drive contains every photo Ive taken over the last 3 years. Turned it on to do some editing and all I hear is a click... click... click... uh oh. I sent it in to the people at ESS Data Recovery and they found head to platter contact on multiple platters and where unable to recover any data.

So what did we all learn from this lesson? Back up your back ups and then have a back up of those.
Tubohoses R&D threw its first track day for its customers and friends, mostly Nobles, a few HOT Lotus', and some other fast cars. Covered the event and even got a little track time in the ol'e30.
